Keystone School Partnership Agreement

New medical school pathway agreement benefits aspiring physicians in Toronto, Canada.

Medical University of the Americas (MUA) and Keystone School, a private middle and high school in Toronto, Ontario, are pleased to share their new educational collaboration. Excitingly for Keystone graduates who dream of becoming medical doctors, pathway participants will now gain direct entry* into MUA’s 6-Year BSc/MD Program, which grants both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree upon successful completion of the program.

As part of this partnership pathway, eligible Keystone students who have successfully completed all required secondary courses with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4-point scale (75%) or equivalent, will receive direct entry into this MUA medical program, where they can achieve their MD degree two years sooner than the standard four years of undergraduate plus four years of medical school journey. Pathway participants will also benefit from a streamlined application process, a guaranteed admissions interview and eligibility for up to $32,500 CAD in grants and scholarships for the MD program portion. When combined with MUA’s cost-effective tuition and fees, which Canadian students can pay in CAD, this makes an MD education both accessible and affordable for Keystone graduates.

Doa Demirsu, Keystone’s Head of School, notes: “We are proud to partner with the MUA in offering an accelerated pathway for our graduates who aspire to pursue careers in medicine. This collaboration is especially impactful for our international students, providing them with meaningful opportunities to achieve their educational and professional goals in fields where access can sometimes be limited. At Keystone, we are committed to supporting the growth of future leaders in healthcare and veterinary fields, and this partnership emphasizes our dedication to fostering academic excellence and preparing students to make a meaningful difference in the world.”

“This partnership with Keystone School represents an exciting opportunity to nurture aspiring physicians from their pre-med years through to earning their MD,” said Dona Rimanishta, MD, Partnerships Coordinator at GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools. “We both share the same values of fostering high-achieving students, and this collaboration will not only enhance educational opportunities but also contribute to the betterment of the healthcare world by shaping future doctors who will make a meaningful impact on the global stage. We are thrilled to welcome Keystone students into the MUA community and look forward to supporting them as they achieve their dreams of becoming doctors.”

Medical University of the Americas, a GUS Medical and Veterinary Schools institution, provides students with rigorous instruction and hands-on training from dedicated faculty, individualized support throughout their medical school journey, and a peaceful and safe island setting where they can take full advantage of their education. A notable benefit for the 6-year BSc/MD program participants is that pre-med students learn from faculty who also teach in the MD program, which helps foster success across all six years of the program. We look forward to what Keystone School graduates will accomplish at MUA and throughout their future careers as practicing physicians!

*To receive direct entry, Keystone graduates must submit an application, submit high school degree graduation diploma and transcripts, satisfactorily complete an interview with the admissions team, and provide two letters of recommendation from Keystone and a personal statement.
